Portrait de Montgomery en frontispice et plus de 100 illustrations gravées. La reliure est en bon état, propre, avec seulement un léger frottement sur la charnière avant. ‎First edition. An attractive copy of this first edition, in a heavily embossed signed binding by Edmonds & Remmnants (Bookbinders; partnership of Thomas Remnant and Jacob Edmonds from 1831). Lovely dark red leather with gilt designs and embossed boards. All edges gilt, which are also embossed. Gorgeous hand made end papers. There is an additional leaf added to the book, which has been printed in red and black letterpress, dated November 1859 and stating that this book is a gift to Amelia on her 21st birthday from her brother Bynon. Frontis portrait of Montgomery and over 100 engraved illustrations. The binding is in good, clean condition, with a little rubbing to the front hinge only. Internally clean, but with a light foxing to some pages. [21], 1-379, [1]. pp 23cm x 17cm. .‎

He created a reconstruction of the world from the creation to the Deluge in his 'The world before the flood', published in 1812.
