‎Raccolta di frammenti presentati come opera di scrittori greci e romani, in realtà contraffazione di Giovanni Nanni, pubblicata la prima volta nel 1498 col tit.: Commentaria Ioannis Annii ... Super opera diversorum auctorum de antiquitatibus loquentium confecta. Cfr. NUC, v. 404, p. 683.EDIT16 Le coup de génie d' Annius de Viterbe, qui a assuré à son ouvrage une diffusion dans tous les pays européens, était d'avoir résolu ce double problème. Il prétendait publier, pour la première fois, des textes retrouvés des plus anciens historiens, entre autre Manethon et Bérose, cité et hautement estimés dans l'Antiquité mais dont les œuvres avaient disparu ; cela n'avait a priori rien d'impossible. Or ces textes, surtout celui de Bérose, contenaient des généalogie des peuples, qui les faisaient descendre de Japhet. S'agissant des Gaulois, le prétendu Bérose donnait ainsi une liste nominative de leurs 25 premiers rois. Annius a été assez vite traité de faussaire mais la controverse sur l'authenticité des textes qu'il a publié a duré presque de siècles. K.
