Ramière de Fortanier, archiviste en chef de la Ville de Marseille, choisi les documents et constitué ce recueil, tiré des minutes notariales d'Aix-en-Provence et de Gareoult (Bouches-du-Rhône) conservées au minutier des Archives départementales des Bouches-du-Rhône onze testaments des années 1354 à 1516 intéressant, à une exception près, soit directement, soit par ses alliances, la famille de Littera, qui joua un rôle important dans la bourgeoisie aixoise au XVe siècle. Pour chacun de ces testaments, le recueil donne la photographie du texte original, sa transcription et sa traduction. Cette méthode de travail, tout autant que la conception même de l'ouvrage, ont permis aux auteurs d'atteindre plusieurs buts intéressants : mettre en évidence ce que les minutes notariales peuvent apporter d'essentiel aux recherches généalogiques en réunissant une série d'actes concernant, sur une longue période, une même famille ; permettre à ceux qui étudient la paléographie de se familiariser avec l'écriture des minutes notariales de la fin du Moyen âge ; offrir enfin aux érudits qu'intéresse l'histoire sociale, religieuse et économique de la Provence médiévale une nouvelle source de documentation. ‎In the spring of 1348, the Black Death arrived in the diocese of Barcelona. The immediate effects were extraordinary mortality and fear. Over the long term, rural life was marked by conflict as peasants and lords reacted to an economy where death had made labour scarce and expensive. Urban society also suffered from plague mortality, but it is a matter of controversy how such demographic changes contributed to the eventual decline of Barcelona in the fifteenth century. The documents of the diocesan register Notule communium 15 (1348-1349) reveal the church's immediate reactions to the plague and provide evidence for patronage and ecclesiastical administration that will be useful to social and economic historians in assessing the immediate and long-term consequences of the Black Death, especially since contrastng material from before 1348 is available in the register Notule communium 14 (1345-1348) calendared by Jocelyn N. Hillgarth and Giulio Silano in the present series. The Black Death is an overwhelming influence on the register, although it is mentioned directly only a handful of times. The bishop of Barcelona, Miquel de Ricoma, was absent at Avignon throughout his tenure (1346-1361), but his vicars-general continued to provide churches to worthy candidates, promote new clerics, and hear cases in the episcopal court. Their work was complicated in the wake of the Black Death: churches lost rectors, patrons did not present candidates for vacant positions (perhaps due to a lack of qualified replacements), and last wills were left unexecuted. Meanwhile, the usual business of the diocesan courts continued, with debts being registerd, criminal clergy punished, and lax parishioners exhorted. The introduction to the present calendar describes the historical and ecclesiastical setting, and includes analysis of the process of registration. ‎Summary Compiled between 1262 and 1272 in Toledo under the patronage of Alfonso X, the Castilian Alfonsine Tables were recast in Paris in the 1320s, resulting in what we now call the Parisian Alfonsine Tables. These materials circulated widely and fostered astronomical activities throughout Europe. This resulted in a significant number of new works, of which there are a few hundred, extant in more than 600 manuscript codices and dozens of printed editions. These manuscripts and imprints, broadly contemporary to the works they witness, comprise the written record of Alfonsine astronomy and provide the focus of this volume. A first series of essays examines individual manuscripts containing Alfonsine works. The authors seek to reconstruct, from the manuscript evidence, the cultural, astronomical and mathematical worlds in which the manuscripts were initially copied, compiled, used and collected. A second series of essays turns from the particular codex to the individual work or author. These contributions ask how particular works have been transmitted in surviving manuscript witnesses and how broader manuscript cultures shaped the diffusion, over two centuries, of Alfonsine astronomy across Europe.
