Josef Albers (1888-1976) was one of the foremost geometric abstract artists of the twentieth century. He made his mark initially as an exceptionally graceful and competent figurative artist, always interested in economy of line and in precise articulation, determined to keep the personal out of his work while revealing the universal and timeless truths of earthly existence. While at the Bauhaus, where he was for longer than any other individual, Albers was elevated from the position of student to Master, and began to have a tremendous influence as an art teacher. That impact continued when, with his wife, the textile artist Anni Albers, he emigrated to the United States and began to teach at the experimental Black Mountain College. In 1970, Josef Albers was the first living American artist to have a solo retrospective exhibition at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, with the emphasis on his "Homages to the Square", a series of color paintings that he made until his death in 1976. Josef Albers: Spirituality and Rigor has been conceived by Nicholas Fox Weber, Executive Director of the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, for the National Museum of Perugia to introduce a range of Josef's work that makes manifest his personal religiosity as well as his deep immersion in Catholicism. Weber knew Albers well, and has made a concerted effort with this exhibition to make manifest the spiritual aspect that underlies his art.

The rare first edition of Weber's influential Habilitationsschrift on Roman law and agrarian history, ""Roman Agrarian History and its Significance for Public and Private Law"".Maximilian Carl Emil Weber (1864-1920) is one of the most important founders of modern sociology and cultural sciences (together with Karl Marx and Émile Durkheim). His works have been, and are, of the utmost importance to the fields of sociology, corporational-, social-, musical-, political-sciences etc., and the terms and categories coined by him are now part of the normal vocabulary of these fields of study.In his groundbreaking Habilitationsschrift, which he published at the age of 27, Weber examined the economic, social and political developments of Roman society, and thus laid the foundations of his establishing of modern sociology. He examined the methods of land surveying in Roman society, the terms that were used for the resulting land units, and agricultural works written by Roman authors.As opposed to e.g. Durkheim, Weber took part in creating the antipositivist tradition, opposing the scientific methods of the social sciences to those of the natural sciences.Weber began teaching at the University of Berlin, and later he taught at the Universities of Freiburg, Heidelberg, Vienna and Munich. Philips Wouwerman is de succesvolste schilder van voorstellingen met paarden uit de Hollandse Gouden Eeuw. Zijn schilderijen tonen veelal veldslagen, jachtpartijen, paardenstallen, hoefsmederijen, rijscholen en legerkampen waarin paarden prominent zijn weergegeven. Wouwerman beperkte zich echter niet tot schilderijen met paarden. Ebbe Weiss-Weingart (b. 1923) is one of the pioneers of international studio jewellery. For over seventy years she has enriched the contemporary jewellery scene with her diverse works. Her inception in the 1950s and 1960s with structured surfaces and galvanised sculptured pieces will never be forgotten. Alongside figurative motifs - in particular, her portrayals of humans and animals - she also created pieces with an ironic and quirky touch. In her last phase of creativity, which began in the 1990s, she had a penchant for working with jewellery made from Chinese jade reliefs. Around 200 illustrations of these jewellery objects documents her award-winning work, and along with previously unpublished photographic material, expands on her hitherto unknown accomplishments. Includes, in full, her speech on the occasion of receiving the Gesellschaft fur Goldschmiedekunst's Ring of Honour, which gives an insight into Ebbe Weiss-Weingart's philosophy and working processes.

First appearance of this importent paper in which Weber was able to explain why the Law of Dulon & Petit, based on the specific heat of only thirteen elements, was only approximately true. ""An explanation of this anomalous behaviour is to be found in the fact that, as shown by the physicist Heinrich Friedrich Weber, and confirmed by many workers in more recent times, the atomic heat increases at different rates with rise of temperature.... A theoretical basis for this law was obtained in more recent times by P.
