‎Interesting document, invitation on the Krestovsky island (in Saint Petersburg, capital of Russia until march 1918) written in french by the John Wallace Riddel (1864-1941), U.S. ambassador to Russia in 1907-1909. English translation of the text: «Wednesday, My dear colleague, If you have nothing better to do this evening, you would give me great pleasure if you would come to my house in Krestovsky this evening around 9 o'clock to play a bridge with some charming ladies and to have a whiskey and soda. Yours very devoted J. W. Riddle”. Good condition.‎
