Le débarquement anglo-américain de novembre 1942 confirme l’anglophobie du commissaire général Joseph de La Porte du Theil et révèle une attitude ambiguë de sa part. Présent sur le sol algérien depuis le 4 novembre pour une tournée d’inspection des Chantiers d’Afrique du Nord, La Porte du Theil se rend à Constantine le 7 novembre pour y rencontrer le commissaire régional Van Hecke, dont les sentiments germanophobes et les ardeurs combattantes lui ont été relayés par un espion, le commissaire Jacques. Ces agissements sont reconnus des années plus tard par le général lui-même : « Je m’étais rendu compte que le commissaire régional des Chantiers d’Algérie, Van Hecke, devait me cacher un aspect de ses activités. Pour y voir clair, j’envoyai sur place le commissaire-adjoint, Jacques (...). Il avait pour mission de remettre tout en ordre et de me renseigner discrètement. » À la suite de ces renseignements, le général de La Porte du Theil vient sur le territoire africain afin de raisonner Van Hecke. Toutefois, lorsque les Alliés débarquent dans la nuit du 7 au 8 novembre, le commissaire général se retrouve devant le fait accompli : Van Hecke, qui appartenait au Groupe des cinq avec son adjoint Henri d’Astier de la Vigerie, s’est engagé aux côtés des Alliés avec ses jeunes. La réaction du général de La Porte du Theil, une fois rentré en France, est sans équivoque : il condamne ces événements et accuse Van Hecke de trahison..." Celui-ci un des 100 (n° 92) sur hollande. L’un des premiers livres illustrés sur la musique de jazz. La couverture est composée de messages publicitaires remplis d’humour,dont l’un chante les louanges de Norine, " couturière des reines et reine des couturières ", qui n’est autre que l’épouse de l’éditeur belge Van Hecke qui fut lui-même couturier. Les compositions endiablées de Géo Navez typiques des années 20, répondent aux poèmes de l’auteur : Harmonica, Clowns musicaux, Gramophone, Pianos automatiques, Banjo, Jazz-band et Hawaïans Guitars.Paul-Gustave Van Hecke (1887-1967) fut un passeur littéraire et marchand d’art. Son rôle dans la diffusion des avant-gardes belges des années 20 est incontournable. ‎

‎Summary In 1517, the Brabant city of Louvain witnessed the foundation of the Collegium Trilingue (Three Language College). Funded by means of the legacy of the humanist and diplomat Jerome of Busleyden (d. 1517) and steered by guiding spirit Erasmus of Rotterdam, this institute offered courses in the three so-called sacred languages Hebrew, Greek, and Latin, which students could attend for free. However, this kind of initiative was not unique to Louvain in the early 16th century. In a time span of barely twenty years, Greek and Hebrew were also offered in Alcal de Henares (near Madrid), Wittenberg, and Paris, among other places. It would not take long before these 'sacred' languages were also on the educational agenda at universities throughout the whole of Europe. The present volume examines the general context in which such polyglot institutes emerged and thrived, as well as the learning and teaching practices observed in these institutes and universities. Devoting special attention to the study of the continuity, or rather the discontinuity, between the 16th-century establishment of language chairs and the late medieval interest in these languages, it brings together fifteen selected papers exploring various aspects of these multilingual undertakings, focusing on their pedagogical and scholarly dimensions. The very rare and complete collection of this Belgian interbellum avant-garde periodical which was devoted to modern art in Europe during this interesting period. It was founded by André de Ridder and Paul-Gustave van Hecke, with Gustave De Smet (who provided the well-known cover design) and Georges Marlier. Each series comprises 10 issues. The covers of the first series (first year) are all done by a different artist in a different color (De Smet , Joostens , Spilliaert , Ramah , Geo Navez , Cantré , Creten , Derain, Fritz van den Berghe , Prosper de Troyer ). Among the contributors we find e.g.; Max Jacob, André Desson , Léon Duesberg , Tristan Tzara , Hubert Dubois , André Salmon , M. Lecomte , Erik Satie , Paul van Ostayen, Jean Cocteau , H.
