(mm. 222x138), tela editoriale figurata in oro (dorso con lievi abras. e picc. spacchi a una cerniera), pp. VIII,(2),406, molto ben illustrato dall'artista John Leech: sono 44 incisioni su legno nel t. e 13 bellissime tavole colorate d'epoca f.t. (come da Indice). Plain or Ringlets una delle popolari novelle sulla caccia, scritte da Surtees, che rappresenta in toni forti gli usi e costumi del XIX secolo. "Edizione originale".Robert Smith Surtees era considerato uno scrittore particolarmente dedicato allo sport, e aveva iniziato la sua carriera come collaboratore dello Sporting Magazine. I suoi comici racconti sono impegnativi e pungenti e il suo stile talvolta si avvicina a quello di Dickens. Il londinese John Leech (1817-1864), est considr un des plus remarquables dessinateurs humoristes qu'ait produits l'Angleterre.. En 1835 il s'adonna au dessin comique. Ses commencements furent difficiles; cependant son entre au journal "Le Punch" lui permis de donner libre cours sa fantaisie et lui assura une brillante rputation.
