Edition originale française illustrée de 13 jolies figures non signées. Pages de titre en rouge et noir. Sir Charles Morell est le pseudonyme de James Ridley. La première édition anglaise date de 1764, elle a ici été traduite par Robinet. Reliures en plein veau brun marbré et glacé d'époque. Dos à nerfs orné. Pièces de titre et de tomaison en maroquin rouge. Coiffe de tête du tome I avec manque. Restaurations en tête des tome II et III, idem en queue du tome I. Mors du tome II ouvert en queue. Un manque comblé le long du mors supérieur du tome II. Mors supérieur du tome III ouvert en queue. Exemplaire frais dans l'ensemble avec quelques feuillets jaunis. Les planches du tome III ont été reliées dans le tome II et vice-versa. Ex-libris ; Bibliothèque de M. de Beaumont. Attribués à l'Imam Horam (dont la vie occupe les pages préliminaires) et soi-disant traduit par l'ambassadeur à Bombay Charles Morell, ces contes inspirés pour la facture des Mille et une nuits sont l'oeuvre de l'imagination de James Ridley dont la notoriété et le succès populaire furent importants en Angleterre.
