‎1953 Cette carte d'embarquement vintage pour le vol Air France de Paris à New York [le nom de la compagnie n'est cependant pas mentionné] se présente sous la forme d'un carton de couleur crème aux dimensions 150 x 100mm, dont le prestigieux passager a renseigné les 10 rubriques numérotées (plus la date) au stylo à bille bleu.‎

‎"Touchant témoignage du passage de Lindbergh en France pour la promotion de son livre The Spirit Of St-Louis en 1953. Le récit par l'aviateur de sa traversée de l'Atlantique en solitaire de New York à Paris, en 1927, publié cette année 1953 et qui allait bientôt remporter le Prix Pulitzer, avait été immédiatement traduit en français. Il était dans l'ordre des choses que la promotion de son ouvrage amène Lindbergh à revenir à Paris, lieu originel de son exploit. Lors du vol retour vers New York, Lindbergh a donc une fois de plus sacrifié à l'adulation dont il était l'objet -intacte en dépit de certains errements politiques dont il dit s'être repenti- en datant et signant au dos sa carte d'embarquement (déjà remplie de sa main) à l'intention d'un ou une de ses ""collègues"" de l'aviation civile française constituant l'équipage de l'appareil qui le ramenait chez lui. En face de la septième rubrique à renseigner sur la carte d'embarquement, ""Profession"", Lindbergh a écrit: ""Consultant"". ‎Réédition de “Trente-trois heures pour Paris” [“The Spirit of St-Louis”] sous un nouveau titre, augmenté de chapitres sur les grands exploits aériens, la technologie de l'aviation, d'un dictionnaire des pilotes et de très nombreuses gravures et photos. — Le 21 mai 1927 Charles Lindbergh (1902-1974) atterrissait au Bourget, réalisant ainsi la première traversée de l'Atlantique nord sans escale. Profitant de l'enthousiasme populaire et de la confusion qui régnait ce soir-là sur l'aéroport, un admirateur indélicat vola le journal de bord du Spirit of Saint-Louis, privant Lindbergh et ses contemporains d'un document « vécu » irremplaçable. L'aviateur mit plus d'une vingtaine d'années pour reconstituer l'enchaînement des événements. L'ouvrage parut finalement en France aux Presses de la Cité en 1953 sous le titre “Trente-trois heures pour Paris”. Mêlant souvenirs d'enfance et récit objectif de la traversée, le livre est particulièrement intéressant. ‎

‎Dans cet ouvrage écrit et publié peu de temps après son exploit, Charles Lindbergh ne s’étend guère sur le voyage du Spirit of Saint Louis. Il apporte par contre un saisissant témoignage sur l’aviation américaine de l’entre deux guerres. Il y évoque son apprentissage et sa "carrière" de pilote forain itinérant, sans oublier ces fameux "cirques volants" auxquels il participa. ‎
