‎Eddy Fraiture (°1942) schetst in dit boek de rijke geschiedenis van de torenuurwerken op de Vlaamse belforten. Hierbij kwam hij tot de onthullende vaststelling dat de eerste torenuurwerken in Vlaanderen bijna allemaal op burgerlijke gebouwen stonden, dit in tegenstelling tot in de ons omringende landen. Samen volgen we de eerste torenuurwerkmakers die op gevaar van hun eigen leven in primitieve torens hun werk verrichtten, de smeden die verbeteringen aanbrachten en de klokkenstellers die dagelijks de gammele trappen op en af liepen om het uurwerk af te stellen of te smeren. Uurwerkhistoricus Eddy Fraiture, de enige Belg die ooit in het British Museum een lezing gaf over horlogerie, werkte zes jaar aan dit geschiedkundig werk. Dit boek, uitvoerig gedocumenteerd en voorzien van talrijke onuitgegeven foto?s, is onmisbaar voor elke bezoeker en cultuurliefhebber van onze historische belfortsteden. Edmond Bacri, de son vrai nom, est un parolier et chanteur français qui a écrit environ 4 000 chansons dont Les Amants de Paris pour Edith Piaf, * Le destinataire, Eddy Marnay, de son vrai nom Edmond Bacri est l'un des plus grands paroliers français, auteur d'environ 4 000 chansons. Arrivé à Paris en 1937, passé par le journalisme et le cinéma, il signe dès 1948 Les Amants de Paris pour Édith Piaf, sur une musique de Léo Ferré. Sa carrière l'amènera à collaborer avec les plus grands interprètes, Yves Montand, Juliette Gréco, Michel Legrand, Nana Mouskouri, Mireille Mathieu, Marie Laforêt, Bourvil, Claude François, et à signer des succès devenus des classiques : La Ballade irlandaise, La Valse des lilas, Les Moulins de mon cur, Un jour, un enfant et Le mal aimé. L'amitié qui lit ces deux figures majeures de la littérature et de la chanson est peu documentée.
