"Dumas was one of the foremost chemist of his day" (Duveen). The present work, originally published in 1837- here in the Belgium pirate edition of 1839 - is chiefly devoted to the history chemistry, and comprises i.a. the first loge of Lavoisier. DSB (consice ed) 216-17: "His historically oriented Leons sur la Philosophie Chimique (1837) was very influential upon subsequent studies in History of Chemistry".
