FÊTES est une suite de 7 gravures à l'aquatinte avec estampages et reliefs. Maeght Éditeur, Paris 1971. LA PLANCHE N° 7 DE LA SUITE, IMPRIMÉE SUR VÉLIN D'ARCHES À 150 EXEMPLAIRES. Le tirage sur vélin d'Arches n'est ni signé ni numéroté. (Feuille : 45 x 34,2 cm et sujet : 32 x 23,3 cm). Bibliographie: Bénézit 3-117 ; Johnson 152 ; Monod 9290 ;Prout-II-71-05; Lhermitte 487. Note : Pour chacune des sept gravures, Calder a tout d'abord fait un dessin précis en couleur. Puis il a découpé les formes ainsi dessinées dans une plaque de métal. Ces formes ont ensuite été déposées sur la presse ouverte, conformément au dessin original. Les couleurs, volontairement éclatantes, ont été appliquées à la brosse, le papier était posé par dessus, et l'ensemble passé à la presse. Cette technique de gravure inédite a donné une subtile empreinte en relief dans le papier de chaque planche. Bibliography: Bénézit 3-117; Johnson 152; Monod 9290;Prout-II-71-05; Lhermitte 487. Note: For each of the seven engravings, Calder first made a precise color drawing. Then he cut the shapes thus drawn out of a metal plate. These shapes were then placed on the open press, in accordance with the original design. The colors, deliberately bright, were applied with a brush, the paper was placed on top, and the whole thing was put through the press. This unique engraving technique gave a subtle relief imprint in the paper of each plate.
