Title page printed in red & black with large engraved portrait vignet. Printed in two columns, within typographical borderlines, estimated number of characters well over 1.2 million. Bound in contemporary full leather over wooden boards, with two working clasps. Leather with traces of blindstmping. Previously rebacked (19th c. ?), Binding with old soiling and traces of use, only very small loss of leather at the extremities, technically in good order, clasps still working. First 5 leaves with some browning, but in all still a sound copy.. Provenance. With the handwritten ex-dono of the abbott of the Liesse Abbey (Hainaut, Southern Netherlands) Antonius De Winghen. In the upper margin handwritten ex-libris of the Jesuit College of Lier (prov. Antwerpen). With the printed 19th c. libray label of the Jesuit College of Turnhout (founded in 1845). The text of this edition is attributed (without stringent proof) to the English Dominican Trivetus (Nicolaus Triveth) (Norfolk 1250-1334) who had strong ties with Oxford and theology faculty in Paris. The subtitle page of the second part mentions explicitly the Louvain theologist Augustinus Hunnaeus (Bruges 1520 - 1577) He is a lesser known but very important theologian of Louvain University who is credited with forging a link between theology and law.The approbatio of this book refers explicitly to Louvain: date 27th jan. 1575, signed by Cornelius Reynari of Gouda and Johannes Molanus of Louvain. At the end of this book is published a catechism with an approbatio dated 1570 and signed by e.g. Arias Montanus and Robertus Malcotius. . USTC mentions only 4 copies in Anglo-saxon libraries. It is unclear why European libraries were left out. Louvain Theology Faculty has a copy.

All titles printed within an ornamental border, all pages with a typographical line border. Bound in contemporary pigskin over wooden boards, both covers blindtooled with on the frontcover a portrait of ''Justice'' and on the rear cover ''Lucrece''. With two, still fuctioning clasps. Binding with slight traces of wear, old manuscript ex-libris in the lower margin of the first title, library markings on the first fly leag, some old notes in ink on the last fly leaf. Still a really fine copy. This collection of three titles represents 60% of the output of the printer Nikolaus Kalt during the first year of his activity. Indeed only 5 title were published in 1596, three of which are present here.
