‎Egypt S.P. C1895 Une magnifique photographie sur papier albuminé représentant une femme fellah, vêtue d'un long voile, portant un panier de fruits. Il s'agit d'un portrait réalisé en studio vers 1895. Anonyme, mais correspondant exactement à la référence photographique RP-F-1997-28-35 du Rijksmuseum d'Amsterdam. Cela inclut le texte au bas de la photographie, qui est présent sur notre exemplaire, mais qui a été masqué par le passe-partout/montage. La photographie visible mesure 26,5 cm x 23 cm. Le montage mesure 37,5 cm x 32 cm. Tous les défauts/rayures apparents sur la photographie sont également présents sur la copie du Rijksmuseum. En excellent état.‎

‎A beautiful albumen photograph of a Fellah woman, with long veil, carrying a basket of fruit. This was a studio portrait circa 1895. Anonymous, but conforms exactly to the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam photograph reference RP-F-1997-28-35. This includes the text to the base of the photograph - which IS present on our copy, but has been hidden by the passe partout / mount. Photograph visible is 26.5cm x 23cm. Mount is 37.5cm x 32cm. All apparent flaws / scratches to the photograph are also present on the Rijksmuseum copy. In excellent condition. .‎

‎Paris S.P. C1930 Une jolie caricature originale représentant deux hommes regardant un journal intitulé « Le Ploubot de St Ouen ». Intitulée La Gloire. L'illustration est réalisée à l'aquarelle et collée sur un carton rigide. Sur le bord figurent ce qui semble être des commentaires éditoriaux au crayon. La carte a été collée à un moment donné, ce qui explique que le bord supérieur soit un peu abîmé. Déchirure fermée sur le bord inférieur. Nous n'avons pas pu identifier l'artiste, mais il s'agit tout de même d'une caricature d'époque attrayante. La peinture mesure 33 cm x 25,5 cm. Le carton mesure 38,5 cm x 29 cm.‎

‎A lovely original caricature of two men, looking at a newspaper entitled "Le Ploubot de St Ouen." Entitled La Gloire. The illustration is in watercolour, and is pasted onto a stiff card backing board. To the edge are what seem to be editorial comments in crayon. The card has been stuck up at some point, so the top edge is a little raged. Closed tear to the bottom edge. We have been unable to identify the artist, but is still an attractive period piece of caricature art. Painting is 33cm x 25.5cm. The card is 38.5cm x 29cm. .‎

‎London Faber and Faber 1946 Première édition. Un bel exemplaire de cette première édition d'essais satiriques. Les opinions de Dexter Foothood sur le monde. Jaquette orange et blanche propre et lumineuse. Légèrement foncée et quelques petites éraflures sur le bord inférieur. Dans l'ensemble, cependant, un très bel exemplaire de cette jaquette rare. Le livre lui-même est relié en tissu bleu avec des titres dorés. Imprimé conformément aux normes économiques en vigueur pendant la guerre, mais malgré cela, il n'est que légèrement foncé. 200 pages. 19,5 cm x 13 cm. Dexter Foothood est un personnage semi-autobiographique de Marlow. Louis Marlow était le pseudonyme de Louis Umfreville Wilkinson (1881-1966), auteur, conférencier et biographe britannique. Wilkinson a mené une carrière littéraire remarquable, fréquentant des personnalités telles que les frères Powys, Somerset Maugham et Aleister Crowley.‎

‎First edition. A lovely copy of this first edition work of satirical essays. The opinions of Dexter Foothood on the world. Clean and bright orange and white dust wrapper. A touch of darkening and a few small chips to the bottom edge. Overall though, a very nice example of the scarce wrapper. The book itself is blue cloth with gilt titles. Printed in conformity with the wartime economy standards, but despite this is only slightly darkened. 200 pages. 19.5cm x 13cm. Dexter Foothood is Marlow's semi-autobiographical character. Louis Marlow was the pseudonym of Louis Umfreville Wilkinson (18811966), a British author, lecturer, and biographer. Wilkinson had a notable literary career, associating with prominent figures such as the Powys brothers, Somerset Maugham, and Aleister Crowley.‎
