In the 1970s, he compiled genealogies of the descendants of field marshals Kutuzov, Suvorov, and Saltykov up to modern times. Continuing the work of N. F. Ikonnikov, Ferrand published several volumes tracing the fate of princely and count families of Russia from 1917 to the late 20th century. Author of works on the Romanovs, Yusupovs, Obolenskys, Nabokovs, Kugushevs, and Musin-Pushkins.
