Copie d'une proclamation attribué au marquis de La Romana et envoyé auprès du ministère de la Guerre pour traduction ; cette proclamation avait été envoyé à Paris, pour montrer des intentions et des conséquences de l'action de la guerilla en Espagne :"A la réception du présent, Messieurs les magistrats du canton de Valladolid feront brûler immediatement tous les charriots qui se trouvent dans la dite juridiction. S'ils n'en agissaient pas ainsi, il s'exposeraient à être condamnés à la peine capitale. Dans le cas où les propriétaires desdits charriots s'opposeraient à mon ordre, leurs maisons seront livrées au pillage et un habitant sur cinq sera passé par les armes (…)." Signé pour le marquis de La Romana par Eustasio Martinez.Joint la copie de l'original en espagnol qui fut traduit au ministère par "Simonin".Archives du Maréchal Soult.Chef militaire espagnol, le marquis de la Romana avait déjà combattu les armées révolutionnaires en Roussillon en 1793. Il joua un rôle important dans la campagne de 1808 accompagnant les Anglais, et en 1809. Après la chute de Madrid, il était devenu membre de la Junte suprême qui se réunit à Séville. Dit boek presenteert de resultaten van een nieuw historisch en economisch onderzoek naar het samenspel van geografische kenmerken, de ontwikkeling van bevolking en infrastructuur, ondernemerschap en sociale bewegingen, die de sociale en economische ontwikkeling van de provincie bepaald hebben. Vlaams-Brabant was en is een groene provincie. De landbouw bepaalde het landschap, het verstedelijkingsproces, de industrialisatie en misschien zelfs de mentaliteit.
