Venetia, Domenico Nicolino, 1564. USTC 837830. /// In-8 de (16), 156 ff.. Vélin. (Reliure de l'époque.) //// Second edition in Italian of this famous book of secrets. Levin Lemne (1505-68), a Dutch physician and philosopher, gathered in this collection all sorts of facts, both true and fantastic, taken from ancient authors - Hebrew, Greek, Latin and Arabic - which he presents and comments on in a rather interesting way. "It is a most heteregenous collection, heteregenously piled together ... The collection is a very curious one, notwithstanding, and furnishes good instances of popular ideas about natural things current three hundred years ago." Ferguson, Books of Secrets, I, p. 10.
