‎ 9 photographies originales, tirées sur papier albuminé (6 photos de 20 x 14,5 cm et 3 de 14,5 x 9,5 cm), montées sur carton épais. Sur le premier plat de la chemise on lit "N° 10. Offert au Marquis de Nadaillac". Jean-François de Nadaillac (1818 -1904) était paléontologue et anthropologue. Il a publié de nombreux ouvrages sur la préhistoire, notamment en Amérique. Un feuillet de notice imprimée donnant le nom, l'age et le lieu de naissance des sujets photographiés et un feuillet d'envoi imprimé et signé du bibliothécaire : "Le prince Roland Bonaparte prie Monsieur le Marquis de Nadaillac de vouloir bien accepter un exemplaire des photographies des Hindous qu'il a fait exécuter récemment pour sa collection particulière au Jardin d'Acclimatation de Paris ... 3 Mars 1884". Le Prince Roland Bonaparte (1858-1924) était le petit-fils de Lucien Bonaparte, frère de Napoléon Bonaparte. Il se livra à des études scientifiques et entreprit de nombreux voyages. Il se construisit une magnifique bibliothèque scientifique, historique et géographique, publiant lui-même de nombreux ouvrages. Les photos sont légèrement passées. (Reliure de l'éditeur.) //// 9 original photographs on albumen paper (6 photographs of 20 x 14,5 cm and 3 of 14,5 x 9,5 cm), mounted on thick cardboard. On the first plate of the folder we read "N° 10. Offered to the Marquis de Nadaillac". Jean-François de Nadaillac (1818 -1904) was a paleontologist and anthropologist. He published many works on prehistory, especially in America. One printed folio gives the name, age and place of birth of the photographed subjects and an other signed by the librarian: "Prince Roland Bonaparte begs Monsieur le Marquis de Nadaillac to accept a copy of the photographs of the Hindus that he recently had executed for his private collection at the Jardin d'Acclimatation de Paris... March 3, 1884". Prince Roland Bonaparte (1858-1924) was the grandson of Lucien Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon Bonaparte. He devoted himself to scientific studies and undertook numerous trips. He built up a magnificent scientific, historical and geographical library, publishing many works himself. The photos are slightly faded. Very nice copy.
