‎Prima edizione del 1797 di questo trattato di balistica scritto da Jean Louis Lombard (1723-1794). L'opera è uno studio sul movimento dei proiettoli applicato al tiro delle bocche da fuoco. L'autore, celebre professore di matematica e scrittore militare francese ebbe come allievo Napoleone Bonaparte. Nella prima parte principi di trigonometria, segue lo studio matematico di balistica. Alla fine del volume quattro tavole ripiegate. Rara opera. In ottime condizioni. Copertina in piena pelle con titolo e decorazioni in oro al dorso in ottime condizioni con lievi usure marginali. ‎Bella incisione probabilmente della metà del XIX secolo tratta dalla monumentale opera di storia naturale di Buffon, carta spessa. L'incisione rappresenta la vedova di fuoco. In buone condizioni, fioriture. Usure al margine destro. TECNICA: Incisione DIMENSIONI FOGLIO: cm 20x12,5 DIMENSIONI INCISIONE: cm 14x9 EPOCA: 1850 circa Buffon fu un'esponente del movimento scientifico legato all'illuminismo e le sue teorie influenzarono le generazioni successive di naturalisti in particolare Jean Baptiste Lamarck e Charles Darwin. Questa è la sua opera più celebre ed è l'"Histoire Naturelle" pubblicata per la prima volta tra il 1749 ed il 1789 in 36 volumi di cui 8 postumi grazie al lavoro di Bernard Lacepede. Buffon espone tutto il sapere dell'epoca nel campo delle scienze naturali e proprio in questo scritto rilevò le somiglianze tra l'uomo e la scimmia e la possibilità di una genealogia comune.
