Summary The Richard B. Witschonke Collection of more than 3,700 coins, now in the collection of the American Numismatic Society, provides the historical and numismatic prologue to the study of Roman provincial coinage. L'exposition Dada à la Galerie Sydney Janis, ainsi que le catalogue et l'affiche, furent entièrement conçus et organisés par Marcel Duchamp. Pour cette première rétrospective Dada après-guerre, Duchamp frappa les esprits. L'affiche imprimée en rouge et noir sur papier pelure était distribuée froissée en boule.En 1953, Duchamp planifia, organisa et installa une importante exposition historique de dadaïsme international à la galerie Janis. Plus de deux cents œuvres et documents y étaient présentés, chacun identifié dans un « catalogue » conçu par Duchamp, véritable œuvre dadaïste en soi : une feuille volante d'une extrême finesse, ornée de textes (de Jean Arp, Richard Huelsenbeck, Jacques-Henri Lévesque et Tristan Tzara) en caractères typographiques contrastés, disposés en colonnes étroites en diagonale. À la réception des feuilles, Duchamp en prit une, la froissa en boule et demanda à Janis de l'expédier telle quelle. Janis s'exécuta, à la grande surprise de nombreux amateurs d'art qui se demandaient pourquoi on leur envoyait des déchets.L'exemplaire proposé ici a cependant été envoyé pliée et l'enveloppe originale est jointe.Bon état, les parties imprimées en rouge ayant pâli avec le temps.MOMA 1973 p.325; Schwarz 543.(105539)

Meta (Mari Carmen Hernandez) a peint une série d'une trentaine de visages mi-mythiques, mi-réels. "En créant ces "sages-personnages", qui se laissent faire, je sens leur présence."
