Exemplar mit bedeutender Provenienz: Aus dem Besitz von Erwin Friedrich Baumann (1890-1980) mit handschriftlichem Besitzvermerk auf dem Titel und Besitzerstempel auf dem Umschlag. Baumann, Architekt und Bildhauer, lernte 1918 Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in Davos kennen. Baumann arbeitete als Architekt im Büro von Rudolf Gaberel und wurde u.a. mit der Bauleitung des Waldfriedhofes, auf dem das Grab Kirchners liegt, beauftragt. Baumann wurde erst in den 80er Jahren durch Brieffunde Kirchners bekannt. Kirchner berief sich, vor allem bei seinen Skulpturen auf das Urteil Baumanns. Ernst Ludwig Kirchner richtete seinen Abschiedsbrief am 15. Juni 1938, vor seinem Selbstmord, an Baumann. Baumann hatte wiederholt versucht das Werk Kirchners in der Schweiz bekannt zu machen. Er war massgeblich am Zustandekommen der Berner Ausstellung beteiligt. - Originalausgabe der legendären grossen Museumsausstellung mit 296 ausgestellten Werken. Mit einem Text von Max Huggler und dem von Kirchner selbst unter seinem Pseudonym Louis de Marsalle verfassten biographischen Reflexionen. - Umschlag und Schnitt etwas angestaubt und stockfleckig.
