"Tant par la narration que par l'expression graphique, le Pinocchio de Philippe Foerster s'arrime au fantastique belge, mais trouve son inspiration dans le surréalisme noir, dont Collodi était un fervent, notamment dans son roman, Les mystères de Florence. Cela fait de l'album Pinocchio un phénomène unique dans le monde de la bande dessinée. Il y a Philippe Foerster, il n'y a pas d' "école Foerster" et voilà tout son mérite, et l'intérêt de le redécouvrir avec ce Pinocchio fantastique, burlesque, rabelaisien pourrait-on dire. La bichromie d'époque étant de piètre qualité, elle sera entièrement restaurée sous la supervision de l'auteur. "
