‎Seventeenth-century English Miniatures in the Collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum.‎

‎<p>This publication is a complete catalogue of 17th-century miniatures in the national collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum. It offers a full account of the physical construction of the miniatures, setting each object in its historical context both in terms of the artist's oeuvre and of the portraiture of the known sitters. A biographical introduction to each artist is followed by individual catalogue entries, which cover details about the sitters; the object's size and format; the materials and techniques employed; the signature or inscription; the miniature's condition, frame and provenance; and reference to any supporting exhibitions and literature. ‎Melbourne et Adelaide, 1865-1866 5 pièces en un vol. in-8, demi-veau blond, dos lisse, roulette dorée, filets à froid Cachet (annulé). Bon exemplaire. (reliure pastiche).‎

‎Intéressant recueil de pièces très peu communes, imprimées pour l'Exposition intercoloniale de 1866, la première de la série, qui se tint précisément dans la ville de Melbourne, ou pour l'Exposition internationale de 1867 (Paris). La colonie de Victoria, sous cette forme, ne datait que de 1851, époque à laquelle elle fut séparée de la Nouvelle-Galles du Sud : une loi du Parlement britannique séparant le Victoria de la Nouvelle-Galles du Sud fut d'abord signée par la reine Victoria, le 5 août 1850 ; elle fut suivie par une loi d'habilitation votée par le Conseil législatif de Nouvelle-Galles du Sud le 1er juillet 1851. Mais le moment officiel de la séparation de la colonie du Victoria de la Nouvelle-Galles du Sud ne fut établi que par l'article 1 de la loi de 1851. Il fallut cependant attendre 1856 pour voir la formation d'un parlement régulier. I. ‎Impressionnant album souvenir unique du Jubilé de la Reine Victoria, composé par Ernesta Stern (1854-1926) alias "Maria Star", écrivain fameuse pour son salon du Faubourg Saint-Honoré où elle accueillit notamment Marinetti ou Marcel Proust. Née Maria Ernesta Hierschel de Minerbi, elle épousa le banquier Louis Stern. Etat très satisfaisant (frottements et rousseurs, plusieurs feuillets débrochés). Impressive unique souvenir album of Queen Victoria's Jubilee, composed by Ernesta Stern (1854-1926) alias "Maria Star", famous writer for her salon in Faubourg Saint-Honoré where she notably welcomed Marinetti or Marcel Proust. Born Maria Ernesta Hierschel de Minerbi, she married the banker Louis Stern (binding rubbed, some foxing, several unstitched leaves).‎
