‎"Mandatory Happening #1: s. Barnes, Carolyne: Ken Friedman, 99 events 1956 - 2009. Stendhal Gallery, New York. Das Mandatory Happening sollte von Maciunas herausgegeben als Multipel erscheinen, wurde jedoch nie realisiert. Friedman erhielt ein Einzelexemplar mit dem von Maciunas entworfenen Umschlag zugesandt (s. Silverman 138/I, heute im MOMA New York). Von den anderen "Spielpläne" lassen sich keine Belege finden, weder bei Silverman noch im Archiv von Ken Friedman. Die Übersetzung ist im Archiv von Tomas Schmit nicht bekannt.‎

If so please write to me immediately and i'll send a different one. A.K." - Das Happening wurde im Juni bis September 1966 in New York, Boston und Los Angeles (bei Sohm in Pasadena) aufgeführt. "This was one of the most important happenings of Allan Kaprow’s career, and not because of its impact or visibility in its time, but because of the implications that are grounded conceptually in its development. And this is because his approach signifies a challenge for Kaprow himself, taking to the limit the idea of experimentation in art and its blurring with life" (Soledad Gutierrez).
