Royal8vo. 2 orig. pictorial full cloth, very richly gilt. Repairs at spines ends, slightly rubbed. All edges gilt. All plates with tissue-guards. Ocassionally a little brownspotted. VIII,112,VI,136 pp. and 81 fine double-tinted lithographed plates, including 2 frontispiece-titles. The printed titles calls for 80 plates, the numbering in vol. 2 is 1-41 (less no 37), in vol. 1 the plates are numbered 2-40 and the frontispiece-plate is unnumbered).
First edition of both volumes.
The origin of birds. With two plates in colour and one hundred and forty photographs and text figures from drawings by the author.
