This volume is dedicated to the artistic heritage of the Sanpaolo IMI Group, which includes various realities located throughout the national territory. The collections, which include both Italian and foreign artists, are the result of different but continuous and sometimes centuries-old paths, which have seen the various banking institutions manifest not only a collecting attitude, but, often, a precise patronage of cultural promotion. This volume traces a span of time spanning five centuries, which overlaps with the history of Sanpaolo: from the birth, in 1563, of the Confraternity Compagnia di San Paolo, to all the subsequent phases of the evolution of the banking institution.
