EDITION ORIGINALE. Poème de Michel Leiris, suivi de 6 LITHOGRAPHIES originales en couleurs d'André MASSON, tirées sur Chine appliqué sur vélin, monogrammées par l'artiste. Masson a également exécuté une septième lithographie en couleurs ornant la couverture. Tirage unique à 57 exemplaires numérotés sur vélin d'Arches, signés par l'écrivain et le peintre. >>>>>Michel Leiris et André Masson qui se rencontrèrent dès 1922 devinrent rapidement très proche. L'écrivain allait devenir un des plus ardents défenseurs du travail de son ami, qui illustre en 1925 son livre SIMULACRE, publié par Kahnweiler le marchand du peintre. Leiris et Masson deviennent des habitués des dimanches de Boulogne où le galeriste réunissait ses amis, parmi lesquels Juan Gris, Antonin Artaud, Maurice Raynal et Georges Limbour. Durant l'occupation, la galerie étant considérée comme bien juif, c'est la femme de Michel Leiris, Louise, qui décide la racheter, sauvant ainsi les biens de Kahnweiler d'un nouveau séquestre. A la libération, la galerie reste à son nom qui figurera également sur les éditions de livres qu'elle poursuit. Avant-guerre, Masson avait déjà donné des illustrations pour plusieurs textes de Leiris sur la corrida, comme MIROIR DE LA TAUROMACHIE publié chez Glm. Très bon 0

Summary This book inaugurates a planned series focusing on Toro Muerto, the largest rock art site in South America. Located in Peru's Arequipa region, Toro Muerto covers approximately 50 km , with the densest concentration of nearly 2500 volcanic boulders engraved with petroglyphs contained within its central 10 km . Known since the 1950s, the site was nevertheless only partially recorded, and earlier documentation was often incomplete or inaccurate. Since 2015, a team of Polish researchers from the University of Warsaw, working in collaboration with Peruvian specialists, has undertaken a systematic programme of documentation; the results are presented here for the first time. Lavishly illustrated and published in both English and Spanish, this volume functions as both a catalogue and a typology of Toro Muerto's geometric, zoomorphic, and anthropomorphic motifs. It presents the first high-resolution digital record of the site, featuring nearly 50 motif types, almost 700 photographs, and 5500 drawings. With an unprecedented level of detail, the book provides a solid foundation for future iconographic and archaeological research, offering new insights into the symbolic and ritual significance of one of the world's most impressive rock art complexes.
