‎The Dance of Death in the Muhlenbruke (sic = Mühlenbrücke), in Lucerne. Painted by Caspar Meglinger (1626-1635). Copied by X. Schwegler,painter from Lucerne. ‎

‎Ant. Eglin, Succr of Eglin brothers, 1893, Oblong in-8to, 64 lithographic plates (verso blank) with German legends (plates nr. 1-63 + 1 unn..), bookblock spine and inner hinges reinforced with cloth strip, half cloth with corners, orig. lithogr. mounted (the image of the Mühlenbrücke, framed by the title in German: „Todtentanz auf der Mühlenbrücke in Luzern“), good copy.‎


‎There were originally 67 paintings but 3 from the original cycle were missing when the paintings were reproduced by Schwegler for this edition. Thieme-B. XXIV/336; Brun, SKL (1908) II/348-350; HBLS V/65, nr. 2. ‎

Les planches sont en très bon état. Avec des illustrations gravées sur bois en noir et blanc d'après des fresques du mur du cimetière de l'église Saint-Jean à Bâle. Édition trilingue, avec un texte en anglais, en français et en allemand. Trois pages de titre séparées. Bon état intérieur, mais avec quelques légères rousseurs sporadiques. [85] pages. 135 x 110 mm.‎


‎Recent hardback black cloth boards with original front cover illustration laid on to front board. New endpapers. Boards in very good condition. With b/w woodcut illustrations based on frescoes from the cemetery wall of the church of St. John in Basel. Trilingual edition, with text in English, French and German. Three separate title pages. Internally good, but with some light sporadic foxing. [85] pages. 135 x 110 mm (5Œ x 4Œ inches).‎
