‎Sourcier. Abbé Paramelle. L'Art de découvrir les sources. 1886‎

‎L'abbé Jean-Baptiste Paramelle, né le 16 janvier 1790 à Felzins et mort le 20 août 1875 à Saint-Céré, est l'un des premiers hydrogéologues français et un pionnier de l'hydrogéologie karstique. Il a révélé plus de 10 000 sources. Il entreprit durant plusieurs années des études de géologie et compléta ses études par d'innombrables observations et recherches pratiques sur le terrain. Il était devenu un sourcier. Persuadé qu'il était sur la bonne voie, il présenta en 1827, un abrégé de sa méthode pour découvrir les sources. En 1849 que M. Thoureau, alors maire de Moloy, eu l'idée de faire appel à l'abbé Paramelle pour alimenter le village en eau. Au fond d'une combe, appelée Combe Aulogne, l'abbé découvrit des sources de façon très précise. Les sources furent captées et permirent d'alimenter en eau potable et à volonté tout le village. Le réseau fut réalisé en 1850. Il alimente encore aujourd'hui la fontaine située sur la place du village. ‎Première édition au format in-octavo de la traduction française de Castéra publiée la même année au format in-quarto. L'édition originale parut à Edimbourg en 1788 sous le titre Travels to discover the Sources of the Nile, in the years 1768, 69, 70, 71 and 72. Un des meilleurs récits de voyages sur l'Afrique. L'explorateur et géographe écossais James Bruce (1730-1794) parcourut une grande partie de l'Éthiopie à la recherche des sources du Nil. Après avoir traversé les îles de l'Archipel ainsi que la Syrie et l'Egypte, il s'attarda en Abyssinie qu'il traversa de part en part. Il y observa la faune, la flore, les moeurs, le commerce, ce qui fait l'objet des trois premiers volumes. Son voyage était consacré à la découverte des sources du Nil, qu'il crut découvrir dans celle du Bahr-el-Azrek. Il visita la Nubie et l'Egypte, dont il traversa les déserts. Le treizième et dernier volume est consacré à l'histoire naturelle. ‎Summary This volume positions source scholarship as integral to an understanding of the transmission of knowledge across intellectual, social, and material networks in early medieval England. Essays in this collection situate source studies in Old English and Anglo-Latin literature within a range of theoretical and methodological approaches as varied as disability studies, feminist theory, history of science, and network analysis, tracing how ideas move across cultures and showing how studying sources enables us to represent the diversity of medieval voices embedded in any given text. The essays in this volume extend the work of Charles D. Wright, who mentored a generation of scholars in methodologies of source study. The essays are organized into three sections. The first demonstrates how source studies facilitate tracing ideas across space and time. The second explores what happens to texts and ideas when they are transmitted from one culture, language, or historical moment to another. The third shows how sources illuminate wider cultural discourses. ‎Summary The volume explores the long-lasting phenomenon of basso continuo in the Italian peninsula, from its origins ? i.e. from the regole per suonare sopra il basso which collects and develops the contrappunto alla mente's legacy ? up to the late partimento pedagogy. In addition to a bibliographic update, the volume presents case studies providing the reader with new information on performative contexts and performance practice between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, and shedding new lights on sacred and secular genres and repertoires cultivated in churches, theatres, academies, noble chambers and domestic environments. Particular attention is given to the relationship between counterpoint, improvisation and instrumentation, to the analysis of primary sources in relation to book formats and the type of notation chosen to convey the accompaniment.
