(testate e grandi iniziali ad ognuno dei 57 capitoli) e 24 bellissime tavole f.t. a colori, incluse le due antiporte, tutte precedute da una velina con didascalia.ll Circolo Pickwick (The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club, abbreviato in The Pickwick Papers) fu il primo romanzo dello scrittore inglese Charles Dickens e viene considerato uno dei capolavori della letteratura britannica.Pubblicata a fascicoli, l'opera vuole essere un resoconto dei viaggi che il signor Samuel Pickwick, fondatore del Circolo Pickwick, compie nel maggio 1827 assieme a tre amici, attraverso l'Inghilterra del primo Ottocento con l'intenzione di descriverne gli abitanti, fra situazioni paradossali e personaggi bizzarri.L'illustrazione di Cecil Aldin rende questa edizione particolarmente pregiata, citata anche da Carteret Le Trsor du Bibliophile,IV, p. 138 per la versione francese del 1912.Cfr. anche Benezit,I, p. 173: Cecil Aldin Charles Windsor (1870-1935), aquarelliste de sujets de sport, dessinateur.. il fut aussi l'auteur-illustrateur de nombreux livres pour enfant et illustra des ouvrages littraires, citando naturalmente questo romanzo di Dickens.Solo qualche lieve fiorit., altrimenti bello e fresco esemplare con barbe, ben conservato; con una lunga dedica ms. al risg. a Bernard per il suo Bar mitzvah.‎
