Questo volume costituisce la continuazione dei tomi I e II, 'Nuova serie', della Biblioteca bio-bibliografica della Terra Santa e dell'Oriente francescano, una collana di documenti ideata da Girolamo Golubovich O.F.M. e da lui diretta tra il 1906 e il 1941. La documentazione che esso contiene riguarda gli anni 1847-1851, durante i quali la Santa Sede istitui una diocesi di rito latino in Palestina e Cipro affidandola a un vescovo ordinario rivestito del titolo onorifico di patriarca e ne perfeziono gradualmente legislazione canonica. Il volume contiene tre corpose appendici per gli anni 1746-1847, utili a una migliore comprensione delle origini e dello sviluppo delle complesse problematiche che indussero la Santa Sede a ristabilire il Patriarcato latino di Gerusalemme. In the late 1770s Jean-Baptiste Nini created a series of terra cotta portrait medallions at the Chateau de Chaumont. Amongst them were portraits of Benjamin Franklin, who was in France in 1776 on a critical diplomatic mission. This volume describes Nini's earliest plaster medallions and moulds, followed by a detailed catalogue of those in terra cotta, including a few of the frequently encountered aftercasts. All the Franklin portraits are illustrated. Includes an annotated bilbiography.
