Vincent van Gogh is maar tien jaar schilder geweest. Hij heeft in zijn korte leven gewerkt als kunsthandelaar, hulpleraar, boekverkoper en lekenpredikant en koos pas toen hij 27 was voor een bestaan als kunstenaar. Tien jaar later was hij dood.
