Format in-4°, 28 x 22,5 cm. One of 100 numbered copies of the '' de luxe'' edition. Each of these issues contains an original graphic ( engraving, etching, lithography...). The 18 issues, in mint condition , are kept in three uniform cloth covered boxes, with a half vellum folder. The original graphics are by Marie Laurencin , M. Savin , L.Survage , R.Bonfils , Desnoyer , Touchague , A. Ouvré , E. Heuzé , V. Sarrat , Frans Masereel , L. Berthommé , A. Jacquemin, Cl. Serveau , Lobel-Riche , Yves Brayer , Henri Waroquier, Deslignères , Jouve. Exceptionnally fine complete set of this leading French postwar bibliophile periodical. Text in French. ‎ Detroit, Chrysler Corporation, 1937, format 24,5 x 28 cm, publicity booklet 22 nn pp, with original soft cover, kept together with a steel metal spiral (original binding method). Printed in two colours (black & orange). In the brochure figures, next to the new cars also the Queen Mary ship and the Brazilian Clipper of Panamerican Airways. The cars presented here are the Imperial series C-14 eight and the C-16 six. The inside of the broschure is fine. The covers however are rather seriuosly dustsoiled, the spine (covering the metal spiral) is damaged with some loss of paper. The first page carries a rubber stamp of the Belgian Chrysler dealer R. van Overloop, situated in Sint-Niklaas (Flanders).‎

‎Carte postale autographe signée de Lawrence Durell adressée à Jani Brun, sa jeune amante française, rédigée au feutre bleu, au verso d'une illustration humoristique mettant en scène Poséidon. L'écrivain a séjourné au Club Méditerranée et en chante les louanges par un vers du poème néomédiévalThe Bard,de Thomas Gray et un de Baudelaire : "youth at the prow and beauty at the helm" (Jeunesse à la proue et beauté à la barre) luxe et voupté - dans le Club Méditerranée, everything is done for you (tout est fait pour vous) J'ai envie de rester encore vingt ans ici. That would make me 110 years old (j'aurais 110 ans)." Après de nombreuses années passées en Grèce, en Egypte et à Rhodes, l'écrivain voyageur Lawrence Durrell fut contraint de fuirChypre à la suite de soulèvements populaires qui menèrent l'île à son indépendance de la couronne britannique. Riche seulement d'une chemise et d'une machine à écrire mais auréolé du succès de son romanBitter Lemons of Cyprus(Les citrons acides), il arriva en 1956 en France et s'établit dans le village languedocien de Sommières. Dans la «maison Tartès», sa grande demeure entourée d'arbres, il écrivit la seconde partie de son uvre, son monumental Quintette d'Avignon, s'adonna à la peinture et reçut ses illustres amis, dont le couple Henry Miller et Anaïs Nin, le violoniste Yehudi Menuhin, l'éditeur londonien Alan G. Thomas, et ses deux filles Pénélope et Sappho. Parmi les oliviers et sous le soleil méditerranéen, il y rencontre au milieu des années 1960 la jeune et pétillante "Jany" (Janine Brun), montpelliéraine d'une trentaine d'années à la beauté ravageuse, qui travaillait au département des Antiquités de la Sorbonne à Paris. Elle fut prénommée «Buttons» en souvenir de leur première rencontre, où la jeune fille portait une robe couverte de boutons. Henry Miller tomba également sous le charme de «Buttons», louant sa beauté et son éternelle jeunesse dans d'exceptionnelles lettres restées inédites. Les trois compères passèrent des soirées parisiennes mémorables dont nous gardons de précieuses traces autographes à travers leurs échanges épistolaires. Recommandée par Durrell, elle fit de nombreux voyages notamment en Angleterre d'où elle reçut une vaste correspondance de l'écrivain ainsi que des uvres d'art originales signées de son pseudonyme d'artiste, Oscar Epfs. - Photographies et détails sur www.Edition-Originale.com -‎
