Writing under the pen name Lao Khamhom, Khamsing was named a National Artist in Literature in 1992.The book is widely considered a foundational work of modern Thai literature and a masterpiece of social commentary.Originally published in Thai in 1958 under the title Fa Bo Kan "The Sky is No , the collection serves as a direct window into the lives of rural Thai villagers (specifically from the northeastern Isan region) during the second half of the 20th century
