‎Courtesan, Yoegoi-Tayu and waitress at the Yoshidaya restaurant ‎

‎Tokoyo Tsuruya C1790 Une jolie estampe ukiyo-e en couleurs, imprimée sur papier à fond mica. Il s'agit d'une estampe originale datant de 1790. Le fond de l'estampe contient du mica dans le papier, ce qui lui confère un léger effet scintillant. Dans l'ensemble, il s'agit d'une estampe en bon état. Il y a une tache sur le cou de la serveuse. Légères pliures. Il y a quatre petits trous perforés dans le bord droit - il semble que l'uvre ait été conservée dans un classeur à anneaux à un moment donné. Il y a un peu de papier sur les bords, mais l'impression elle-même ne présente pas d'usure significative. L'image montre Yoegoi-Tayu, une tayu (courtisane d'élite) de haut rang du quartier des plaisirs de Yoshiwara à Edo (aujourd'hui Tokyo), accompagnée d'une serveuse de la maison de thé Yoshidaya. 36 cm x 24,5 cm. Choki était spécialisé dans les estampes sur bois représentant de belles femmes (bijin-ga), souvent avec des techniques innovantes telles que des fonds en mica pour évoquer des effets tels que la lumière du petit matin ou le ciel scintillant.‎

‎A lovely colour ukiyo-e woodblock print with mica ground on paper. This is an original woodblock from C1790. The background of the print has mica within the paper. This gave a slightly sparkling effect. Overall, this is a good, clean print. There is one spot of dirt to the neck of the waitress. Light creasing. There are four small holes punched into the right edge - it looks as if the artwork has been held in a ring binder at some point. There is a little edge paper, but the print itself is without significant edgewear. The image shows Yoegoi-Tayu, a high-ranking tayu (elite courtesan) from the Yoshiwara pleasure district in Edo (modern Tokyo), accompanied by a waitress from the Yoshidaya teahouse. 36cm x 24.5cm. Choki specialized in woodblock prints depicting beautiful women (bijin-ga), often with innovative techniques like mica backgrounds to evoke effects such as early morning light or sparkling skies. .‎
