A paperback edition of a wonderfully evocative cookery manual by one of Englands greatest modern food-writers. Her Honey from a Weed is a modern classic; her Plats du Jour, published in 1957, was an important step in the re-education of British cooks after the Second World War. The Centaurs Kitchen, however, had never (before 2005) been shown to the public, except in the galleys and staterooms of the ships that once sailed under the ensign of the Blue Funnel Line. It was written in 1964, at the request of the company chairman, to better instruct their Chinese cooks in cooking fresh and flavoursome food

Le marquage à froid sur les planches correspond au dessin de W. Graham Robertson sur les pages de garde. Une grande uvre mystique de Blackwood, dans laquelle il explore l'empathie de l'homme avec les forces inconnues de l'univers. Les planches sont un peu abîmées et frottées. Provenant de la bibliothèque de Maarten Maartens, le nom de plume de Jozua Marius Willem van der Poorten Schwartz. Un nom de propriétaire soigné sur la page de garde. Quelques rousseurs à l'intérieur. Bon état général. 347 pages. 200 x 130 mm.
Second edition, 1912 reprint. Hardback grey / green blind stamped boards, with gilt title to front board and spine. The blind stamping on the boards matches the endpaper design by W. Graham Robertson. A great mystical work by Blackwood, in which he explores Man's empathy with the unknown forces of the universe. Boards are a bit bumped and rubbed. From the library of Maarten Maartens, the pen name of Jozua Marius Willem van der Poorten Schwartz. Neat owner's name to FFEP. Some foxing inside. Overall good. 347 pages. 200 x 130 mm (7Ÿ x 5 inches). .

On trouvera un catalogue illustré (Advertisements) de 22 pp. d'articles pour chevaux, dont une magnifique planche en chromolithographie pour The Newmarket Clipper. Légères usures au cartonnage, quelques rares rousseurs, quelques planches légèrement déreliées, très bel exemplaire.
Rarissime traité équestre contenant 14 somptueuses planches hors-texte en lithographie et une photographie de l'auteur par Fred Brown Walsall, reproduite en phototypie en frontispice.
