‎Cf. Cotsen 8956 (Peek-a-Boo series). - Chloë Preston (1887-1969) ist die Erfinderin der berühmten Peek-a-Boo Figuren, die in Bilderbüchern und Postkarten verbreitet wurden. Die vorliegende Geschichte handelt von den drei Geschwistern Steffi, Hans und Brüderlein, die ein Vogelei stehlen und von der Sonne ausbrüten lassen, worauf ein grosser roter Vogel ausschlüpft, den sie als Reittier benützen können. - Deckel etwas wasserfleckig, Papier gebräunt, Heftklammern locker, kl. La seconde, le texte original en ancien français illustré en couleurs par Bronner. Celui-ci est un des 100 exemplaires contenant un dessin colorié original signé de Lucy Boucher ,N°48 avec une grande enluminure originale signée reproduite sur le premier plat de la reliure et une suite en rose Aurore sur Japon. Les Lais ont été écrits par Marie de France entre 1160 et 1180. Le texte est écrit en anglo-normand, un dialecte de la Normandie, parlé aussi en Grande Bretagne (car en 1066, Guillaume le Conquérant - parti à la conquête de l'Angleterre - est victorieux à la bataille de Hastings.) On a peu de renseignements à propos de Marie de France. On suppose qu'elle était peut-être issue d'une grande famille d'Ile de France liée au pouvoir royal et qu'elle était ainsi au service du roi Henri II de Plantagenêt, en tant qu'artiste à la cour. ‎
