Édition illustrée d’un titre-frontispice, une planche de dédicace et de 63 planches pour 60 sujets (deux pour le Roi Edgar, William Beauchamp et Henry VI), gravées à l’aquatinte par L. A. Atkinson d’après les dessins de Charles Hamilton Smith. Charles Hamilton Smith (1776-1859) est un militaire, naturaliste, artiste et collectionneur d'antiquités britannique. Il étudie l’artillerie en Autriche et effectue plusieurs campagnes et voyages militaires. Après ses recherches sur les relations entre la balistique et la couleur des fantassins, l’armée britannique applique l’usage d’uniformes verts. Son œuvre compte plus de 38 000 dessins. Agréable exemplaire.
