Ouvrage relié sous jaquette format 14.5 x 22 cm. les 2 plats de couverture habillés de papier, avec dos papier imitation toile, marquage à chaud or sur le dos arrondi, tranchefile. Jaquette légèrement frottée. Intérieur 240 pages, texte imprimé sur un papier bouffant ivoire. 2 cahiers hors-texte photos noir et blanc de 8 pages. Très belle édition, très bon état général..

London, Jonathan Cape, 1964. In the original full cloth binding with gilt lettering to spine, in the original printed dust-jacket with 18s net. price intact on flap. Light wear to upper part of spine on dust-jacket, but an overall a nice and clean copy.
First UK edition of Hemingway’s posthumously published memoir on his years in Paris as a struggling expatriate journalist and during the 1920ies. Here Hemingway describe his first marriage to Hadley Richardson and his relationships with other cultural figures of the Lost Generation in the interwar France. The first edition, compiled from Hemingway’s manuscripts and notes by his fourth wife and widow, Mary Hemingway, was published posthumously in 1964, three years after his suicide. In 2009, a new version titled the “Restored Edition” was released by Hemingway’s grandson, Seán Hemingway, a curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The present work became a bestseller in France following the November 13, 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris.
