Erstes (1.)4°. 26,8 x 21,3 cm. 144,(3) S. Tausend Decorated grey cloth binding. Internally the text and illustration pages are in near perfect condition. Profusely decorated with b/w drawings by Jewish illustrator Ephraim Moses Lilien (1874-1925), an early active Zionist. This book was one of his earliest important commissions, but the fullness of his talent is already evident. Text in German. Wonderful B&W. Black, silver and gold designs on front and back covers. Picture available. Autorisierte Übertragung aus dem Jüdischen von Berthold Feiwel. 144 pages plus table of contents. Illustrated throughout with b/w drawings, full page borders and motifs in Art Nouveau style by Lilien. No date or edition. Buckram cloth covered boards with beveled edges. Embossed design of blue trees with white harp to front and to back. Blue lettering. Mit tlw. ganzs. Illustrationen u. Buchschmuck von Ephraim Mose Lilien. Der Zeichner, Graphiker u. Illustrator Ephraim Mose Lilien (1874-1925), von Beruf Schildermaler, war 1890-92 Schüler an der Kunstschule in Krakau und mußte aus Geldmangel diese sowie 1894 eine weitere künstlerische Ausbildung in Wien abbrechen. Über München, wo er Zeichner für "Die Jugend" war, kam er 1898 nach Berlin, schloß sich dem Kreis der "Kommenden" an und wurde als Illustrator von Borries von Münchhausens Gesängen ..
