‎David Walker (1796-1830) est un abolitionniste Noir américain. Alors qu'il vit à Boston (Massachusetts), il publie un brûlot contre l'esclavage : Walker's Appeal to the Coloured Citizens of the World, un appel à l'union des Noirs face à l'esclavagisme qui connaît un grand retentissement et influence par la suite de nombreux activistes. Aptheker reproduit ici fidèlement la troisième édition de l' “Appeal“ avec la ponctuation erratique de Walker, les phrases en italique et les majuscules inchangés. ‎
