Erste Ausgabe in der Originalsprache. - Das Buch erschien 1936 in einer deutschen und einer englischen Übersetzung. - Die "Nuove Edizioni di Capolago" wurde von Silone selbst gegründet, mit der Absicht in der italienischen Schweiz antifaschistische Texte zur Veröffentlichung zu bringen und eventuell Bücher nach Italien zu schmuggeln. - "Brot und Wein" war neben "Fontamara" Silones erfolgreichstes Buch. - Einband leicht angerändert und etwas fleckig. Hinterdeckel oben mit winzigem Eckausriss. Seitenränder etwas gebräunt.
