He published highly original work... His work was marked by its unity of purpose and method. Le traité de géométrie de Michel Chasles condense ses travaux portant sur la géométrie projective. Il essaie de généraliser et de développer les notions de géométrie projective développé par Poncelet en 1822, ainsi il introduit la notion de rapport anharmonique et celle d'homographie.
