Hildesheim, Gerstenberg, 1837 in-8, XII-476 pp., avec 2 cartes dépliantes aux contours rehaussés de couleurs "in fine", demi-veau havane, dos lisse orné de filets dorés, pièces de titre brunes, tranches mouchetées Rousseurs assez abondantes. (reliure de l'époque).
Très rare monographie du diocèse d'Hildesheim, particulièrement importante pour l'époque médiévale, et qui ouvrit la voie en Allemagne à d'autres travaux semblables. Hermann Adolf Lüntzel (1799-1850) était lui-même né à Hildesheim et son père fut le dernier bourgmestre de la ville en tant qu'Etat indépendant. Created in the fourteenth century by the monk John Hildesheim this Latin book tells the apocryphal story of the three saints mentioned in the Bible the three magicians who brought gifts to the infant Jesus. According to legend the three saints - Yaspar Melchior and Valtesar - personify the ancient wisdom preserved in mankind since Ademian times and the three races of the three parts of the world and were therefore highly revered in the era of the Crusades and the Great Geographic Discovery.
