The publication has been prepared for the first in Russia personal exhibition of the American video artist Bill Viola (March 2-May 30, 2021, A.S. Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts). The exhibition presents works created from 2000 to 2014 and united by themes of human passions and natural elements. The catalogue includes texts about the main motives of Violas work and about the exhibits (O. Shishko), about the development of the concept of the sublime (R. Arya), about the peculiarities of video work production (K. Perov) and about the history of their display in Russia (A. Jeuza), as well as an interview by D.J. Hanhard with the artist himself.
