1779 120 p., two hand-coloured text engravings, 4to, paperbound (contemporary blind stiff paper covers with speckled paper spine and paper label).This very rare and beautifully illustrated work is the first large-scale iconography on shells. This part was written by Danish clergyman, Johann Hieronymus Chemnitz, after Martini's death. The text covers chapters 20 and 21, "Familie der Fischreusen" and "Anmerkungen zum Gesschlechte der Kinkhörner", and includes the 37th and 38th hand-coloured vignettes. References are to plates 122-127 but these were published separately and are not included. The vignettes show species of Babylonia, a cancellariid, and a buccinid. Uncut. Upper part of spine somewhat worn. Small old library stamp on title page. Text and illustrations very good, clean. Margins wide. Nissen ZBI, 2722.
