‎Catalogue of hymenopterous insects in the collection of the British Museum. Parts I-VII (complete).‎

‎1853-1859 Seven parts in three. 1254 p., 41 plates, small 8vo, contemporary uniform grained half calf. Gilt title on spines. An average (working) copy at best, as the bindings are crudely taped, some boards detached and show signs of worming (in need of rebinding) and most plates are foxed, paper generally a bit age-toned. Rare. With descriptions of new species. It is from the series edited by John Edward Gray and aimed at providing a complete catalogue of the Museum's holdings. The set is as follows: I. Andrenidae and Apidae (1853) 197 p., 6 plates, II. Apidae [continued] (1854) pp. [198]-465, 6 plates, III. Mutillidae and Pompilidae (1855) 206 p., 5 plates, IV. Sphegidae, Larridae, and Crabronidae (1856) pp. [207]-497, 6 plates, V. Vespidae (1857) 147 p., 6 plates, VI. Formicidae (1858) 216 p., 14 plates, VII. Dorylidae and Thynnidae (1859) 76 p., 3 plates. The present set should not be confused with F. Walker's list of hymenopterous insects in the collection of the British Museum, which preceded this work. An average (working) copy at best, as the bindings are crudely taped, some boards detached and show signs of worming (in need of rebinding) and most plates are foxed, paper generally a bit age-toned.
