1836-1845 3 volumes (of 4). 547, 10, 680, 4, 646,4 p., 36 of which 27 beautifully hand-coloured pls, green contemporary hcalf (spine gilt, black labels). The green on spines somewhat discoloured. Some slight scattered foxing, but plates clean. In this set the plates are bound at the end of each volume. Ex library Claude Gouffé.This is Comte Amédée Luis Michel Lepeletier de Saint-Fargau's (1770-1845) main work and was published by Librairie Encyclopédique de Roret as part of the ''Suites à Buffon''. There was a fourth volume published in 1846 which was authored by A. Brullé but is not present in our set, but the work is very rare in any state. This is a good set of the first three volumes of the scarce coloured edition in an attractive period binding.
