Profusely decorated with b/w drawings by Jewish illustrator Ephraim Moses Lilien (1874-1925), an early active Zionist. This book was one of his earliest important commissions, but the fullness of his talent is already evident. Text in German. Wonderful B&W. Black, silver and gold designs on front and back covers. Illustrator Ephraim Mose Lilien (1874-1925), von Beruf Schildermaler, war 1890-92 Schüler an der Kunstschule in Krakau und mußte aus Geldmangel diese sowie 1894 eine weitere künstlerische Ausbildung in Wien abbrechen. Über München, wo er Zeichner für "Die Jugend" war, kam er 1898 nach Berlin, schloß sich dem Kreis der "Kommenden" an und wurde als Illustrator von Borries von Münchhausens Gesängen .. ‎
