Originally the office or administration building of the Florentine magistrate family De' Medici, the palace houses one of the oldest and most important art museums in the world: the Uffizi Gallery. The palace is located next to the Palazzo Vecchio, also owned for centuries by the De' Medici's, in Piazza della Signoria in the center of Florence.
